Valerian is native to Europe and Asia. This oil is made in China by steam distillation of the roots.

The pinkish-white, strong-smelling flowers appear between June and August; its roots tend to show above the ground. 

Animals in anxious states have selected Valerian, it appears to help them focus and offers relaxation. It has also been selected by those with a muscle tension.

Properties: A well known herb amongst horse owners and widely used for its calming effect before it was banned in competition use under FEI rules.

Valerian is very grounding and reduces anxiety, enabling your horse to relax in situations where he may be overstimulated. Offer with hops, hemp or roman chamomile for an enhanced effect,

Valerian has a powerful effect on tense muscles so can be used as a muscle rub after work.

Principle constituents: valerinic acid, kessane, bornyl acetetate, camphene, pinenes.

Precautions: Non-toxic, non-allergencic. Do not use if competing under FEI rules.
