Yarrow essential oil - Achillea millefolium

A traditional yarrow oil which is of a very dark blue colour due to its high chamazulene levels. The deepness of the blue is a good indicator of oil quality. Distilled from a particular variety of yarrow which has all the aroma of the usual yarrow herb with the bonus of the very high levels of chamazulene.

Grown and distilled in the UK.

Animals have selected yarrow for comfort and to help release pent up emotions.

Properties: a truly remarkable oil with both physical and emotional properties.

Yarrow essential oil should be a deep blue in colour and you can assess its quality by looking at the colour oil you are supplied with. If the oil is green it doesn't contain much chamazulene, which is its major anti-inflammatory component. If the oil is a dull green/brown colour then it has oxidised and should be replaced with new stock.

Yarrow can be used undiluted on wounds and should be dropped on until the blue colour remains on the skin surface, indicating enough has been absorbed through the skin.

Yarrow is also useful for wounds of the heart and helps let go of past experiences and the emotions associated with them. This oil can have profound effects when offered to horses and it is usual to see them start to yawn, lick, occasionally roll and sometimes your horse will go in to a 'thoughtful place' as they process and release these emotions.

Principle constituents: chamazulene, camphor, bornyl acetate, 1,8-cineole, bisabolols.

Precautions: generally considered to be non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitising.
